Architecture
The Architecture program prepares you for transferability and licensure in architecture.
An architect designs the built environment, creating everything from homes and commercial buildings to public spaces and urban landscapes. If you enjoy drawing, problem-solving, and working with your hands, architecture might be a great fit for you. Don't worry if you don't feel creative - this program will guide you through the design process and help you think outside the box.
The goal of the Architecture program is to help you transfer to a bachelor’s degree program in architecture or related fields such as architectural engineering, construction management, interior design, and similar disciplines. Our curriculum covers design principles, architectural history, sustainability, and building technology, giving you the skills needed for a smooth transition. Join us on this journey of growth and development, shaping the architects of tomorrow.
But if you’re interested in the technical skills needed to join the architecture workforce, without transferring or licensure, you can also explore our Architectural and Engineering Design Technology program.
Transferability: Field of Study (FOS)
Students interested in pursuing licensure in architecture must transfer to a four-year institution accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board. Our program emphasizes transferability goals through the Architecture Field of Study (FOS), ensuring all earned credits transfer seamlessly to Texas public institutions. Every Texas public institution accepts all Architecture Field of Study (FOS) courses.
Licensure Pathway
To be a professionally licensed architect, students must complete a National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) accredited master's degree in architecture program (or similar), complete the Architectural Experience Program (AXP) in which a student obtains a supervised internship with an architecture firm, and pass the Architecture Registration Exam (ARE) as prepared and administered by the National Council of Architecture Registration Boards (NCARB).
