Commercial Truck License Institute
Mass transit has become more important to our daily lives and the need for qualified bus drivers is increasing. Learn more about how STC's Bus Driving Program (CDL B with Passenger Endorsement) offered through our Commercial Truck License Institute can help you fill that need.
Program Details
- Our program is an 80-hour, 2-week program (1 week of classroom/computer lab instruction, 1 week driving and observation on the range and roads).
- Classes are scheduled for Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5 pm (no evening or weekends).
- The cost of the program is $1,972, which includes tuition, books and fees* ( see below for financial assistance information).
- This program does not include the school bus endorsement.

Requirements
- Have a valid Texas driver's license (Class C).
- Be 18 years old (to drive in-state) or 21 years old (to drive out of state).
- Understand, read and speak basic English.
Documents Needed
- 2 proofs of residence.
- Birth certificate or evidence of lawful presence.
- Social Security card.
- A 3-year Driving History Record from the Texas Department of Public Safety which can be requested at https://www.dps.texas.gov/section/driver-license/how-order-driver-record . The cost is $10 and is paid directly to DPS.
Financial Assistance
Texas Public Education Grant (TPEG)
TPEG is available for qualifying students. Financial aid only covers part of the cost of the program. The student is responsible for the balance. This is a grant and does not require repayment. Workforce Solutions (WFS)
WFS may cover the cost of the program (minus the DPS fees - $134) if you meet their qualifications. For more information and to see if you qualify, apply online at www.wfsolutions.com.
FORWARD Loan
Forward Loan is available for students interested in Driver Training tuition coverage. Approved students will have a fixed annual rate of 3.85% and begin payments 6 months after program completion.
