Academy Application

Application Checklist

1. Applicants must be in 10th grade in order to apply.
2. Complete a South Texas College Admissions Application.
3. Complete a Dual Enrollment Academy Application.
4. Student Typed Essay (upload): Select one essay option below and indicate which option at the beginning of your essay. The essay format must be one page minimum, Times New Roman size 12 font, double-spaced.
   • Option #1: Describe the topics/issues that you care about, why they are important to you, and how do they relate to your selected field of study. How will you use your personal, work/volunteer, and academic experiences to make a positive impact on them?
   • Option #2: Describe a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. What did you learn from that experience, how did it change you, and how will you use those lessons to be successful in your field of study?
5. Letters of recommendation (link sent via email). One 9th or 10th grade teacher from each of the following:
   1. English
   2. Math
   3. Science
6. Submit High School Transcript with satisfactory grades (counselor sends electronically to STC).
7. STC Academic Standing (if you have taken or are taking dual credit courses) - you must be in good standing (2.0 GPA or higher) at the start of the program.
8. Pass and submit all TSI Assessment Scores.
