Institutional and Recurring Initiatives
Perkins V: Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act
Perkins V is a $1.2 billion annual investment by the U.S. federal government to increase the academic knowledge, technical skills, and employability of students enrolled in career and technical education (CTE) programs. STC receives an institutional award through the Perkins Basic Grant Program that provides supplemental funding to maintain and enhance existing CTE programs.
Part of this award requires the monitoring of Core Performance Indicators - including Retention and Placement; Earned Recognized Credentials; and Non-Traditional Program Enrollment. To that end, STC collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to develop annual program plans and a biennial Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) required by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Department of Education (DOE).
